Former England International and Crystal Palace FC favourite Geoff Thomas teamed up with Europa Quality Print recently in a unique charity fundraiser.

Geoff is a tireless campaigner for Leukaemia Research since having been struck down and miraculously overcoming the disease in 2004.

EQP agreed to sponsor Geoff’s 20 strong team in the New York Marathon and hosted a star studded send off party at the FA Headquarters in Soho Square.

Geoff’s aim to raise £20 million over five years to fund an integrated network of leukaemia drugs trials at six world class centres received a huge boost as a result of the marathon team’s efforts.

Europa’s Managing Director Kevin Ibrahim said ‘Geoff is an inspirational leader and is working hard to try to save the lives of blood cancer sufferers. We can all learn from his determination and our company is extremely proud to be part of Geoff’s team’.

And the nominations are…

Green Hero Award 2008Europa’s environmental record continues to earn recognition and awards and 2008 saw some notable additions to the Company’s trophy cabinet.

The international Green Hero Award was presented to EQP by green campaigner and TV personality Prof. David Bellamy OBE at a prestigious ceremony at the Tower of London. The trophies are awarded annually in recognition of companies, councils and communities carrying out projects that enhance the environment, who wish to share their experience and knowledge with the world. Europa’s award winning project will be featured in the next Green Book, the world’s only work of reference on environmental best practice.

Further awards followed later in the year with EQP’s success in the Sustainable Company of the Year Award and making the finals of the Environmental Company of the Year.

FSC Certification

Forest Trail

We are pleased to announce that EQP has achieved full FSC and PEFC certification. Europa join a select few printers in the UK today to gain these chain of custody certificates and clients can now reap the benefits of working alongside a proven environmentally responsible printer.
Customers can also demonstrate their own commitment to the environment by using the FSC tick tree logo on any item printed on FSC certified material.

The certifications were achieved following a rigorous audit of the company’s systems and procedures and is regularly monitored and audited by an independent body
The Chain of Custody process ensures that the material is tracked, traced and identified from the forest of its origin through every stage of production until it reaches the end user.

Certified forests are managed to ensure long term timber supplies while protecting the environment and the lives of forest-dependent peoples.

Location, location, location!

HSBC Shoot outside EQPs printing centre in WoolwichEuropa House provided the backdrop for a recent HSBC Bank advertising photo shoot.

Location scout Maria Satur of Lou Lou Locations approached Europa Quality Print in late May to use the premises for the shot that is to be part of a major advertising campaign by the high street bank.

Award winning photographer Henrik Knudsen was commissioned for the project and shooting took place on a warm Saturday in late June involving a 16 strong production crew.

The picture shows shooting in progress during the day.

Heidelberg Printing PressEQP has taken delivery of its' latest new press - a Heidelberg Speedmaster 74.

This latest investment confirms a growing brand loyalty to the German manufacturer following the purchase of a Heidelberg CTP system back in April 2006.

Superior print quality, faster throughput of work and a larger sheet size are just some of the many benefits the new machine will bring to Europa.

Onwards and upwards!

New Premises'You can't fit a quart into a pint pot' as the old saying goes and Europa's urgent requirement for more space became a major concern to Management during 2004. Aborted projects, a lack of suitable properties and even a case of gazumping delayed and hindered the company's ambitions, until with the help of the London Development Agency, a new property was purchased at the I.O. Centre in Woolwich in mid 2005.

With 4500 square feet of machine area and a further 3500 square feet of pre-press and office space, the company's new headquarters provides an uncluttered working environment and ample room for growth.

In nostalgic deference to the firms first address back in 1993, the company's new headquarters is to be named Europa House - a link with the past that will resonate with many of EQP's loyal clients who have been customers from day one.

EQP's historical new site

The company's move to the riverside site at Woolwich Arsenal was completed over the weekend of 1st and 2nd April 2006. Whilst benefiting from the many advantages of a purpose built factory, with bright new offices and a spacious pressroom, Europa is privileged to have their new headquarters on a historical landmark site.

As it was - two old views of the Woolwich Arsenal site

From 1667 the Woolwich site was the main storage area for the Crown's military supplies. During World War I over 80,000 people were employed there in what was described as a 'secret walled city and one of the governments most sensitive establishments.'

At the end of WW II the demand for armaments dropped considerably and the site began its' decline, until in 2001 when The London Development Agency and Berkeley Homes embarked upon a major regeneration project. The latest planning application will provide 300,000 sq ft of commercial space and 3000 new homes.

EQP gets CTP!

CREO TrendsetterA fortnight ahead of the main move, the first arrival at Europa's new premises was their latest acquisition - a Heidelberg [Creo] Trendsetter CTP system.

CTP technology uses a digital process to transfer the image from Apple Mac to printing plate directly from data without using film, thus eliminating numerous processing steps whilst saving time and money. Not only does this process streamline workflow and provide higher image quality but there are also environmental advantages as the process is entirely chemical free.

With an output of up to fourteen B2 plates per hour, the Trendsetter will prove to be a valuable addition to EQP's pre-press department.
